Who are delegates and why are they important?
In simple terms, delegates are representatives. Much like in representative forms of government, delegates vote on behalf of those that delegate their voting power to them. Delegates play a vital role in Renzo Governance, as many community members may not be able to dedicate sufficient time and energy to stay informed of all the latest proposals, forum discussions, and protocol developments. Delegating their voting power enables these members to still have a say in governance, without being intimately involved in the day to day workings of the DAO.
What exactly does a delegate do?
A delegate represents others in Renzo Governance. It is recommended that a delegate regularly votes on proposals, contributes to active forum discussions, and lets their constituents know where they stand on specific issues.
It is also recommended that delegates maintain their “delegation pitch” thread. You can do this by being available to discuss governance issues with your constituents and announcing ahead of time how you will vote on newly introduced proposals.
What is required to become a delegate?
Becoming a delegate is as easy as nominating yourself by creating a post in the “Delegation Pitches” category of the forum. Once a user has chosen to delegate their $REZ tokens to your address, you then wield their voting power and represent them in Renzo Governance.
